Solar Lighting International is a pioneer in hurricane-resistant solar street lighting. When a hurricane-prone area invests in solar power, it needs to be an asset that will keep reaping dividends – no matter how extreme the weather is.

Installing a solar panel onto a pole adds a wind shear challenge. By using mono-crystalline panels, high wind top of pole solar panel racks, adjusting the pole thickness, and burial method, Solar Lighting International® can guarantee systems with a proven track record during hurricane Maria and hurricane Dorian with zero pole or solar lighting system failures. Solar Lighting International develops the best solar lighting systems, which are the epitome of durability and performance in our industry. We hope your experience is stellar and appreciate your feedback and photos. We are committed to developing the best solar LED lighting available and listening to the needs and wants of our clients.

Our light poles are rated up to 180 MPH. Click the image to see the Engineering Certificate.

The result is a street lamp system that has proven itself time and time again.

Here’s what makes our lights better:

The Ultimate Hurricane-Resistant Light Design

  • 180 MPH rated poles.
  • Monocrystalline solar panels are resistant to flying debris.
  • Hardened mounting brackets support the solar panel in wind gusts.
  • Ventilated lights prevent water accumulation and allow the lights to continue to function throughout the storm, providing added lighting coverage for rescue crews and a faster recovery time after a disaster.
  • Improved waterproofing means that all of the connectors are sealed to prevent water entry and protect the circuits in driving rain.

A Better Light

Fed up with the quality in the industry, we decided to take a different road.

Our Research and Design Center in Lancaster, SC went back to the drawing board.

We started by optimizing the LED configurations and lighting spread. We’re able to offer a wide array of light colors to come closer to matching your existing installations and reduce eye-strain on drivers.  This also allowed us to offer the best lighting coverage with the lest amount of power draw, creating a more efficient lamp.

We use the Phillips 190 lumen-per-watt LED chips in our manufacturing.

Knowing that most of our clients live in harsh climates, we built our lamps with added ventilation to prevent overheating. Specifically, we designed the ventilation to discourage dust deposits from settling on the lamp.

We also focused on creating a better charge controller. Our charge controller allows for more efficient energy management to stretch the lifespan of your batteries and allow you to capture more electricity for every minute of sunshine.

We then stand behind our with a 5-year warranty on the entire luminaire.

Whether you need 10 solar lighting systems or 1,000, we can deliver your next project.

No auxiliary power and no trenching required. Our lights are designed to work 100% off-grid.

Solar Lighting International’s street lamp systems for parking lots and highways come in many options: 7400 lumens, 14800 lumens, and our new 19200 lumens for standard fixtures.

A Better Panel

In ocean-front installations; water, wind, and salt are the three harshest elements that we must contend with. To reduce the costs of wind damage, we chose a monocrystalline panel.  This panel is extremely resistant to high winds. We then pair it with a pole and mounting bracket that is designed to hurricane specifications.

We are also excited to offer a more efficient panel. Thanks to next-generation engineering, our panels provide up to 50% more power per unit area while maintaining a lowered voltage-temperature coefficient. This allows the panels to operate well in low-light conditions which means they collect electricity from the first hint of a sunrise to the last possible moment of a sunset.

This advanced technology means that your lighting system will not easily be eclipsed by a “newer, better” light, ensuring that you are getting the best value for your investment.

A Patented Solar Charge Controller

Our charge controller uses patented MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) charging technology. This allows our controller to increase charge current by up to 30% more over conventional solar charge controllers. More power for less cost!

This added current capacity enables us to manage better, store, and conserve energy which means you get the most out of each solar panel.

We also can network these solar charge controllers together. This gives up to 8 controllers the capacity to communicate with one another and act as a single controller. This works great for Smart City Technology.

Solar Parking Lot Lights and Solar Street Lighting Designed For Hurricane-Prone Islands

It doesn’t matter if you are a relief agency, a contractor, a municipality, or a small business. Our lamps work in parking lots, on busy highways, and in those critical beachfront locations where the tourists will be flocking to.

We are excited to offer a light that is designed for our kids and grandkids to enjoy.

No trenching is required. Only install and deliver light to where you need it. Our lights are extremely easy to transport and install, which is reassuring when working in disaster-stricken or remote regions.

If you are contacting us about our lights, please be sure to specify that you are seeking information on a hurricane-resistant configuration. We make several important upgrades to these quotes including:

  • Stronger poles rated for up to 180 mph winds
  • Monocrystalline PV panel
  • Stronger mounting brackets.
  • Specific solar light models that have been proven to work well in these conditions.
